Nursery Field Trips – 2018-19

Field Trip

Field trips are a way of enhancing classroom learning by making real world connections. The field trips give students the opportunity to observe a particular environment that enables first-hand experience of what they are learning. Firsthand experience can provide children with information and a level of understanding that adds elements of realism to their play, and enriches their overall learning. Nursery children went for their field trip to Birds’ Aviary, Post Office, Spencers’ and Sayaji Garden Zoo.

Birds’ Aviary

If children experience the amazing-ness; that is nature and our natural world when they are little, they will be willing and committed to protect it when they are older. So, during the field trip to birds’ aviary Teachers discussed and explained traits of birds and their adaptations, how birds fly, their eating habits and described why birds are important.

Post Office

The children and teachers were welcomed warmly by the staff at the Post- office. They were taken around to see how letters are collected, segregated, stamped and then stored for the postmen to collect. It was altogether a great learning experience especially in these times of email & fax. Visiting a post-office was something out-of-the-ordinary for the children although “post” is an ancient form of communication!

Children had a glance of the various counters like those selling stamps, envelopes, postcards etc. Later the children posted envelopes that they had prepared in class by drawing themselves.

Spencers’

To help the students understand that vegetables and fruits are an important component of a healthy diet. Both vegetables and fruit contain essential nutrients that are important for their health, growth and development.
